Welcome to The Haversack!
To understand this site, you have to know what a haversack is. They’re the ancestors of messenger bags. They were originally sacks with a single shoulder strap and used to carry food. Soldiers used them to for rations. Mountain men used to carry canvas or leather haversacks and called them possibles bags. They carried items the mountain man had found to be essential. The bag might usually had some food in it. It might also contain a firestarter, extra socks, a pipe and tobacco, whatever the explorer felt he might need on his journey.
So that’s what The Haversack is. It’s a collection of thoughts and ideas that I carry with me on my journey. You’re welcome to use the same thoughts, and maybe we’ll end up in the same place, maybe not. But you’re welcome to poke through my sack and see what’s here.
